 Construction Update
Chris Claflin, construction manager, gave the following construction update to the Board of Education at their Monday, May 12, 2008 meeting.

Soccer Field
  1. Grass is planted and has germinated.  District maintenance and grounds staff is overseeing care.
  2. Lighting system is due to be delivered on May 19 and the electrical company intends to install at that point.
  3. Sidewalk to the soccer field has been completed.  A few sections with cracks will be replaced when miscellaneous concrete work is being done.

Linwood Elementary School
  1. Construction is due to start as soon as school is out.  Contracts are on schedule to be completed this week with B.A. Green Construction Company.
  2. The district has authorized and begun panel monitoring.  This is a specification requirement that we pulled out of the bid so construction will not be delayed this summer.
Glenwood Ridge Elementary School
  1. The district is prepared to complete contracts this week with Champion Builders, Inc.
  2. The expected completion dates are:
    • July 31, 2008 - parking lot addition
    • November 30, 2008 - new addition
    • February 28, 2008 - room remodels
  3. The building permit for the Glenwood Ridge addition has been obtained from Leavenworth County.  This permit allows construction of the building, but will not allow occupancy until both Basehor and Leavenworth County adopt the Sewer District #3 interlocal.  The City of Basehor approved the interlocal agreement on May 5 and Leavenworth County has received that information from Basehor.  It is in final review and should be voted on soon.
Intermediate School
  1. Construction documents are near completion.  We expect to put out for bid within the next couple of weeks.
  2. District staff has a final review of the construction documents this week.
  3. District staff has continued to meet with the developer of Basehor Town Center, the City of Basehor and other parties to represent our interests in the development of proposed benefit districts.  It is expected that the Basehor City Council will vote on the benefit districts in the near future and the final plat for Basehor Town Center.  Any delay in the above will force us to delay the start of the intermediate school and the result will be a delay in occupying the building.
Basehor-Linwood Middle School
  1. Design development is progressing on the new middle school.  Mr. Boyd, district staff and HTK Architects continue working with the middle school staff to finish the plan for the new building.
  2. The interlocal agreement on Sewer District #3 will provide the infrastructure needed to accommodate the sewer needs of the new middle school.
  3. Geotechnical studies are underway to provide the necessary information for the structural engineers to design the building.
  4. Negotiations continue on installation of the water line to the new building.
