Enrollment:
Enrollment in BLDL/Credit Recovery will open on August 15, 2008.
Reasons for Enrolling:
Typically, students who connect with BLDL/Credit Recovery are also enrolled full-time at their local school. These are students who need an opportunity to earn credit in addition to the credit they are earning from their local district. Reasons for connecting to BLDL/Credit Recovery might include; earning extra credit to graduate early, making up credit for failed courses to graduate on time, schedule issues at the local school, and taking an extra course because of a unique interest. We also enroll elementary students on a yearly tuition fee basis.
Prior Approval:
If you are a student enrolled in a public or private school, a school administrator or counselor must call or write a letter of approval verifying that the school will accept the Basehor-Linwood Distance Learning credit.
Fees for Middle and High School Courses:
Students enrolling in Basehor-Linwood Distance Learning must pay the following fees before course activation will be complete:
$150 per half credit (.5) course or $300 per full credit course
Your total fee to start one semester course is $150. Textbooks are provided within this fee structure. Textbooks must be returned prior to credit being issued. You may pay for your course with cash, personal check, money order, or credit/debit card (small fee is charged) made payable to USD 458. Fees must be paid in full at the time of enrollment during a scheduled meeting with a BLDL administrator.
Fees for Elementary:
BLDL can provide the core curriculum areas (Math, Reading, English, Social Studies, and Science) for grades K-6th for a yearly tuition fee of $1800. This tuition fee will provide access to a full-set of grade level textbooks, certified teacher support, and grade level website and online testing for a school calendar year. The tuition fee must be paid in full at the time of enrollment by cash, cashier's check, or money order. Please call (913) 724-1727 for more information.
Refund Policy:
Refunds will not be issued once your enrollment is processed.
Computer and Internet Access:
Students are responsible for their own computer and Internet access. Computers are not available through the BLDL program.
Communication with Instructor:
Most communication with your instructor will be through email. If you would like to communicate more directly with your teacher, you will need to make arrangements with your teacher. If you have questions about submitting lessons, contact your course teacher. You should make a copy of each assignment before submitting it in order to avoid additional work and delay if an assignment is lost.
Pursuit of Coursework:
Students are expected to pursue their coursework. It is the responsibility of the student to complete the course in the time limit allowed. The success or failure of the student is the sole responsibility of the student.
Time Limit:
From the date of enrollment, you have eighteen weeks to complete a half credit (.5) course. A full credit (1.0) course should be completed in thirty-six weeks. We encourage you to begin your course as soon as possible once you have enrolled.
Extensions:
If you are unable to complete a course, you may request one extension. A fee for an extension may be charged. No refunds are granted for extensions.
Final Exam:
You must take your semester final exam at the Basehor-Linwood Distance Learning Office. Please call the BLDL Office (913) 724-1727 to schedule your final exam once you have completed all course requirements.
Grading Policy:
Teachers determine the grading policy for their courses. All courses will have a semester final exam that you must schedule and take at the BLDL office. You must pass the final exam with at least a 60% in order to receive credit for the course.
